Subak is a classical Korean martial art characterized by powerful kicks and footwork that utilizes soft, flowing energy. A synthesis of Daoist exercises and traditional Korean folk arts, Subak offers a dynamic and graceful approach to self-defense with an emphasis on economy of motion and healthful longevity.
This workshop will focus on fundamental body mechanics of Subak:
· basic postures
· stretches stepping
· partner exercises
· assortment of dynamic kicks.
People of all levels of fitness are welcome.
Aaron Diaz hails from Mobil, Alabama where he began his lifelong martial arts career in 1989. At the age of six he began learning from his father, Steven Diaz, a 6th Dan in Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. He has trained in Seol, New York, San Francisco, and Portland in a number of internal systems. He holds a 4th degree black belt and master instructor rank in the Korean art of Soo Bahk Do.
